Abstract

In linguistics, there are theoretical assumptions about the use of cliché similes that focus on their role in language production, comprehension, and cultural significance. Some theoretical perspectives suggest that cliché similes serve as cognitive shortcuts that help speakers convey complex ideas quickly and efficiently. They are seen as linguistic formulas that have become ingrained in a language community's collective knowledge and are easily recognized and understood by speakers.
