Аннотация

This article aims to reveal the importance symbolic elements  in  Faulkner's work “A rose for Emily”. Although this story is rich in symbolism, the most common example is the symbolism of the rose. In fact, it's even in the title,  the author  compared his heroin and  a rose  full of thorns and at the same time leading  to tragedy . Through some elements  the author shows the negative influence of society to  individuals ,which can be occurred by some gossips and comments of the people. In the story a first-person narrative is used to focus on Emily, who has attracted the attention of the town`s people and dictates the conversation of the town.
