THE HISTORY OF SURKHANDARYA POPULATION
Abstract
Surkhandarya is one of the oases located at the intersection of the Great Silk Road, with 2,500 years of cultural and historical achievements and values. In the middle of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, there were 37 estates and 517 villages in Surkhandarya, which was part of the Bukhara Emirate. Until 1913, the population of the oasis consisted of 160,000 people[1], 167,000[2] in 1917, 200.000[3] in 1920, 264,863[4] in 1925, it was 315,000 people[5] in 1939.
