The article is devoted to the socio-psychological analysis of the theme of the liberation of women and mothers of the novels of Joyce Carol Oates. The heroines fully accept traditional family values and do not venture to imagine their lives without husbands. Some of them sacrifice their own well-being in order to save her husband.
